The Doobie Brothers are one of my favorite classic rock bands. I like The Doobie Brothers better than many other classic rock bands because I enjoy their jazz-inflected guitar rhythms. My favorite Doobie Brothers song is ‘Long Train Runnin,' which comes from the 1973 album entitled The Captain and Me. There's something about that song that makes you start dancing without even realizing you're doing so. It's as though your rump starts twitching to the music automatically and before you know it, you're up off your seat jumping around like a demented dork. The fact that so many up and coming bands cover the songs of the Doobie Brothers is evidence that they really are one of the best classic rock bands of all time. I defy anybody to listen to ‘Long Train Runnin' and then tell me they don't like The Doobie Brothers. Anybody who hates this band is not only tone deaf, their soul lacks rhythm. Personally, I don't think music will ever be as good as it was in the sixties and seventies. Today's tunes aren't about music, they're about making lots of money as quickly as possible, and it shows.
