Okay, so Jethro Tull hasn't had a radio hit in years, so what? Jethro Tull is still one of the greatest of all classic rock bands because of all the great tunes that this former monster of arena rock churned out during the years of their greatest success in the late sixties, up through the late seventies. And just because Jethro Tull doesn't get radio airplay except on classic rock stations, don't shed any tears for Tull vocalist/flutist Ian Anderson. Anderson's got his. In fact the leader of one of the great classic rock bands lives in a gorgeous Eighteenth Century manor house nestled in 400 acres of the bucolic English countryside surrounded by four cottages, a helicopter pad and 1.5 million dollar swimming pool. I guess writing all those classic rock songs paid off the old boy, eh? And although he doesn't need the money, Anderson continues to tour to play all of the classic rock songs he's written over the years. In a recent interview for the Ottawa Citizen, Anderson commented, "I'm travelling for the fun of making music. It's a pretty flippant occupation, really." And despite a lack of radio airplay, except on the aforementioned classic rock stations, Tull is still one of the hottest tickets on the classic rock bands tour. I think Jethro Tull is great and may they keep on rocking for another couple of decades!
