Why are classic rock stations so in demand? Why is it that people would rather listen to classic rock bands and classic rock song from days gone by? Do you have a few hours? I'll tell you. However, since you probably don't have a few hours to listen to why classic rock stations are so popular across generational lines, I'll keep it short and sweet.
Classic rock stations play the great rock songs from the past. These are songs that have stood the test of time and have validity and appeal to listeners of all ages. Those of us that remember those classic rock songs the first time they came around can still enjoy them and they bring back many memories.
For the younger set, I think that they are enjoying classic rock songs because much of today's popular music is brain dead. I mean that in a nice way, but there is no getting around it. Most songs today are not even played by the artists. How many of these songs will still be around in 20 or 30 years? Very few, in my estimation.
Classic rock stations play the best classic rock songs that have been played by real musicians, in real bands that worked very hard to get them heard. Those songs still stand up today and the vast majority of today's music doesn't even come close to emulating the appeal of these great songs.
