Who would have thought when The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd and The Who first appeared on the music scene that more than a quarter of a century later there songs would be just as popular with this generation as when first released? Of course there are many other classic rock bands whose music continues to live on and be enjoyed from generation to generation which leads me to wonder which of today's band could become a future classic rock band? What bands of today have the staying power to become musical icons? I am going to list the top five bands from the last several years, with there albums, that I feel have the potential to become classic rock bands.
.) Weezer--The Blue album--Weezer brought indie and emo music to the forefront and made these genres of music widely accepted. A definite future classic rock band in the making here.
.) Counting Crows--August and everything after--Since the release of their debut album the Counting Crows has proven time and time again that they have the staying power to become a future classic rock band.
.)The Red Hot Chili Peppers--Mothers milk--The bands first album to hit gold. Ever since then they have been red hot! Future classic rock bands alert here.
.) David Bowie--Cygnet Committee--This album showed us that Bowie was here to stay. Already considered by many to be a classic rock star, he is on my top five because he continues to influence the music world today by his continuous release of classic rock songs.
.) The Pretenders--The Pretenders--Since their debut album in 1989 this band continues to crank out top classic rock songs, proving to me that this band has what it takes to become a future classic rock band.
