To me, some classic rock songs are like the smell of a certain cologne. When I hear certain classic rock songs, they seem to propel me into the past and make me remember the person I used to be.
When I was just thirteen years old I met and became friends with a young boy. That boy pursued me for ten years until we finally lost contact. Because I didn’t fully reciprocate his feelings, I was cruel to him. I’m ashamed to admit that I broke his heart more than once. I dated and ditched him on several occasions during that ten-year period. Each time I ended the relationship, he cried. However, he never really gave up until I left England for a different country.
Of all classic rock songs, Heaven by Brian Adams reminds me of the young man in question. He once told me that the words of this song expressed what he felt about me. Consequently, Heaven provokes more of a reaction in me than other classic rock songs. It makes me feel remorseful.
