Prince’s Purple Rain is, in my opinion, one of the best classic rock songs ever recorded. It is definitely the most emotional of all classic rock songs I have ever heard. The song Purple Rain comes from the 1984 album of the same title. The sound of the song combines gospel, pop and rock. The lyrics of the song Purple Rain are poignant. They seem to be an apology from a man who has been having an forbidden love affair with a woman who already has a boyfriend or husband. To judge by the lyrics, the woman has taken the affair more seriously than the man and her feelings have been hurt.
Good classic rock songs never lose their appeal. Instead, they transcend generations. The song Purple Rain is a powerful ballad capable of moving both young and old. One would have to be totally devoid of any emotion not to be enthused by the song Purple Rain. Prince’s masterpiece is definitely on my personal list of the top 100 classic rock songs. I will never get tired of hearing it.
